Cloud computing tops IT priority list, study says
Cloud computing technology has an extensive range of benefits for companies utilizing the technology, including lowering their storage costs, upgrading their operations and managing electronic information through its email archiving solutions.
According to a recent study by global IT company Unisys, the cloud will continue shaping the industry in 2012. In fact, the technology is considered to be the top priority for organizations in the new year.
"Private cloud implementations will continue to accelerate in 2012, with enterprises gaining confidence in the technology and moving to leverage it across their infrastructure to drive both improved organizational responsiveness and cost savings, while still maintaining the security of an on-premise infrastructure," the company stated.
Another key development associated with the technology is the further adoption of cloud email and collaboration solutions among government agencies and other businesses this year, according to Unisys.
The cloud continues to garner praise for its immense uses among organizations of all kinds. Mercury News reporter Larry Magid recently reported that the ability to access more storage capacity and increase their computing power are key advantages expected to fuel the adoption of the technology moving forward.
